Mr. Thornton was appointed to the Board effective November 2020. Mr. Thornton served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of FedEx Freight Corporation, a subsidiary of FedEx Corporation ("FedEx") from May 2018 until his retirement in November 2019. Mr. Thornton joined FedEx Corporation in November 1978 and held various management positions with the company, including Senior Vice President, U.S. Operations of Federal Express Corporation ("FedEx Express"), a subsidiary of FedEx, from September 2006 to May 2018, Senior Vice President – Air, Ground and Freight Services of FedEx Express from July 2004 to September 2006, and Vice President – Regional Operations (Central Region), FedEx Express from April 1998 to July 2004. Mr. Thornton serves on the board of directors of Sherwin Williams Company, a public company, and on the board of trustees of Nuveen funds, overseeing approximately 140 portfolios within the fund complex. Mr. Thornton is also a member of The Executive Leadership Council.
