Surprise reaches deal with telecom provider

The Surprise (AZ) City Council agreed to a wired telecommunications license and right-of-way use agreement with Crown Castle Fiber, permitting the company to install nearly 20 miles of aerial and underground fiber optic cables. In exchange, the city will charge an annual linear foot fee, permit and review fees, violation fees, damage fees and a transaction privilege tax where applicable.
