Crown Castle plans to expand our existing Distributed Antenna System (DAS) network, a type of small cell solution (SCS), within the Right-of-Way (ROW) of Portland to provide coverage and additional capacity in an area that is underserved by traditional macro cell towers. Due to the extraordinary proliferation of wireless devices in recent years, demand for enhanced wireless service is being driven by users of smartphones and other devices that support social networking, streaming video and large data volume applications. By utilizing leading-edge technology, this SCS will help to ensure that residents, visitors and businesses have dependable access to a network that is capable of meeting their data demands as well as enhancing public safety.
This project is an expansion of an existing small cell network in the Western portion of Portland. This network expansion includes the deployment of 19 additional nodes attached to existing utility poles located within the public rights-of-way of Portland, unincorporated Washington and Multnomah Counties.
