Will network operators eventually rent their 5G equipment, too?
A recent report from Cowen analysts suggests wireless network operators, such as Verizon, may someday begin to rent 5G radios and antennas from the towers they currently use for tower space. Some executives in the cell tower industry agree that it's a topic of discussion. “‘Overall, I would say that statement is accurate,’ wrote Mark Reudink, VP of technology strategy at Crown Castle, in response to questions from Light Reading about the Cowen report. ‘Of course, business models still need to be worked out,’ he added,” said the report.
