Matthew Cohen, President and CEO of the Long Island Association, and former Lieutenant Governor Bob Duffy, President and CEO of the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce, argue for the importance of removing anything that may make implementing federal funding to improve internet infrastructure more difficult. They cite removing the fee on fiber optic cables, which can be up to $22 per fiber strand, as an example that causes telecommunications companies to abandon important projects.
