We're working in close partnership with Frisco's city staff to deploy a network of 15 low-powered antennas called "nodes" that sit close to the ground, are connected by fiber optic cable, and can handle large amounts of data at high speeds. This network promises to ease congestion significantly, smooth the transition to 5G and other next-generation networks, and help Frisco roll out a variety of "smart city" innovations over time.

Why Frisco needs more wireless infrastructure.

The fastest growing suburb in the affluent “Platinum Corridor” within the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, Frisco has been on an upward trajectory since the turn of the millennium. With more than 170,000 residents, the city is supported by an ongoing influx of businesses from almost every industry sector. Its school district is one of the nation’s fastest growing and most exemplary. And it welcomes millions of visitors each year to its premier sporting events, upscale shopping establishments, four-star restaurants, and its recreation mecca of Lake Lewisville. It’s no wonder that Frisco has been named by Forbes as one of the top places to relocate, and by Money as one of the nation’s top places to live.

In recent years, the people, communities and businesses of Frisco have become heavily reliant on fast, reliable wireless connectivity. Demand for mobile data keeps rising exponentially, yet the city’s existing wireless infrastructure has been unable to keep pace. It’s a dire concern, especially considering the public safety implications—80 percent of all emergency calls to police, firefighters and other first responders are now initiated on mobile devices. Small cell solutions, or “small cells,” can help expand network coverage, complementing Frisco’s existing cell towers and other wireless infrastructure.

Discover more about small cells and the benefits they'll bring to your community.

Where we're installing small cells.

Since small cells often are inconspicuously installed on right of way infrastructure like street signs, utility poles and streetlights, they blend into their surroundings and preserve the aesthetics of their environment. Working in partnership with city staff, we plan to enable improved wireless carrier service while keeping Frisco’s character intact.
